Drop Shot Practice
Tactical Problem: How do you place the birdie in your opponent's front court from your back court?
Skill Development: The execution of a drop shot.
Teaching Points:

Drop Shot (forehand):

  • Non-racquet arm up (aiming, balance, trunk rotation)
  • Racket arm extension.
  • Snap the wrist.
  • Weight transfer.
  • Follow through, and back to ready position.
  • Outcome: high and deep.
  • Stop swing at full extension and peak height.
  • Outcome: short and tight to net.

Organizational Points: 

1. Hand Feed:

  • In partners.
  • Partner hand feeds from in front and to a side.
  • Place another pair on the other side of the court.
2. Serve Feed:
  • In partners.
  • Partner serves to the hitter.
  • Tic/Tac the pairs so no pairs are in line with each other.
